ALFRED PACQUEMENT
Heritage conservator and former Director of the Musée National d’Art Moderne, Centre Pompidou

Beginning his career at the Centre National d’Art Contemporain, Pacquement joined the staff of the Centre Georges Pompidou, becoming the curator at the Musée National d’Art Moderne in charge of contemporary art until 1987. He then was the Director of the Galerie Nationale du Jeu de Paume, the Delegate for Visual Arts at the Ministry of Culture and the Director of the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts (National Academy). In September 2000, he was appointed Director of the Musée National d’Art Moderne at the Centre Georges Pompidou where he stayed until the end of 2013. Pacquement is presently an independent curator and cultural consultant.
Curator of numerous exhibitions in France and abroad, he was recently in charge of exhibitions on Richard Serra, Pierre Soulages, François Morellet and Simon Hantaï, as well as Giuseppe Penone and Lee Ufan for the château de Versailles. He chaired the Marcel Duchamp Prize Jury from its founding until 2013.
