Gareth Nyandoro is mainly interested in the social interactions and the marchand exchanges that take place in the public space.
Taken from his local environment, scenes of everyday life are represented with ink on large sheets of overlaid paper. Once patterns are applied to the white sheets, Gareth Nyandoro precisely cuts and lacerates the pictorial layer into thin and long strips, revealing, in this process, the colors of the lower leaves. A network of lines resulting from the notches amplifies the movements that compose the scene, or blurs the figures – which tend then towards abstraction.
