Every year, SAM Art Projects awards a prize to a visual artist residing in France and presenting a project destined for a foreign country (non-European or North American). Applications are open every year from June to September. The SAM Prize is attributed in December, after the committee deliberations, to a french artist (or a foreigner currently living in France) who works in the visual arts domain.

The artworks produced in the framework of the SAM Prize allow artists to raise issues and to present discoveries and research in less-known areas. Exhibiting them at the Palais de Tokyo confirms their notoriety amongst professionals from the art world and the public.

The SAM Prize is endowed with 20,000 euros and accompanied by an exhibition at the Palais de Tokyo in Paris and a publication.

All mediums of expression and all disciplines in the visual arts are recognized by the call for projects (painting, sculpture, installations, photography, video, etc.)

The 5 artists shortlisted by the SAM Art Projects committee will be announced in November 2019, and theses artists will then present their project in front of the committee in December.

SAM Art projects also runs and finances an artist residency in Paris. Every year, the program consecutively hosts two artists selected by the committee, whose members each present an artist. The artists-in-residence are solely foreign (from non-European or North American countries). At the end of their residency, each artist creates an exhibition at the Palais de Tokyo, funded by SAM.

SAM Art Projects is an organization, recognized as a being of public utility in 2013, which goal is as much to help, promote and defend contemporary artists coming from developing countries as it is to support French artists proposing an artistic project in a non-European and North American country.

SAM Art Projects aims to encourage all artistic forms that stimulate contemporary art, as well as favoring cultural exchanges between Europe and developing countries. Led and supported by Sandra Hegedus Mulliez, SAM Art Projects do not benefit from any public or institutional support.
