Taro Izumi was born in 1976 in Japan. He works and lives in Tokyo.
Representative of the young Japanese generation, Izumi creates in a universe similar to a Samuel Beckett piece: absurd, burlesque, and often colored with dark humor. His installations transform places into large ‘junk shops’ of images, sounds, and objects where the artist engages in multiple dialogues with TV screens. With the help of his camera, markers, some pots… Izumi undertakes all kinds of tasks, as paltry as they are bizarre, in mises-en-scènes of small and big human tragedies.
